The test separator is typically comprised of a container and an oil flow-measuring device with two meters, a flow measurement system for gas, a number of sampling locations for each effluent phase as well as two valves for relief that safeguard the vessel from pressure. These components minimize the chance of carrying over (liquid in the gas lines) or carryover (gas in the liquid line) which can affect the precision of measurement of flow rates.
