In 2012, my husband and I bought his childhood home on nearly 33-acres in Bloomsdale, Missouri. We knew we wanted to do something productive with the land, but we quickly found ourselves busily growing a family. So we tucked away that dream and started on a different dream. Now that we are all done growing our family, and officially outnumbered (help), we decided to use a few acres for growing flowers!

There are many reasons why Valley Abloom LLC exists, but here are some of my favorite reasons. My husband and I value a slower lifestyle. We enjoy doing things the old-fashioned way. It is important to us that our kids know how to grow their own food and take care of livestock. By developing a farm right on our property, we hope our children know what it is to be self-sufficient and sustainable. My kids and husband work alongside me on our flower farm and homestead. Valley Abloom LLC exists because it simply means family, and putting family first is at the core of our belief system.

Why flowers? My Grandma Betty had beautiful peonies all over her yard. She allowed me to pick some when I’d leave after visiting her while they bloomed. Peonies remind me of cozy hugs, a home-cooked meal, and all the nostalgic goodness of my childhood. The second I get a whiff of their intoxicating scent; I’m transported back in time when life was magical. When I was a little girl, my Dad put in a garden each year, and he’d always put in two rows of sunflowers per my request. I’d hide away in between the rows for hours reading and observing.
