More than a thousand kilometers from the capital of Maharashtra, Chandrapur is identified by the amalgamation of diverse cultures of conservation of environment and industrial development. Bestowed with rich natural resources, Chandrapur district also replete with dense forest and enviable biodiversity. The Tadoba-Andheri Tiger reserve puts Chandrapur on the environment conservation map whereas Magasysay award winner Late Baba Amte`s work at Anandwan has given it international identity.

More than 25 years ago, it was the vision of Shri Shantaramji Potdukhe that transformed the educational profile of Chandrapur when he laid the foundation of technical education by starting Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering, Research and Technology (formerly Chandrapur Engineering College ) in 1983. It was an humble begining with 5 branches and 180 seats. It now has 460 intake in 7 branches and PG course in three disciplines. Today under th dynamic leadership of Principal Dr. K.R. Dixit, the college had proved its academic merit and has successfully cultivated the sense of social responsibility.

The excellent results are the academic balance sheets of college whereas Energy park, Industrial waste characterization, Fly ash utlilisation centre and pollution analysis signify the socio-environmental commitment. Equipped with the academic vision of Shri Shantaramji Potdukhe, a team of highly qualified faculty members put together by progressive Principal Dr. K.R. Dixit, the college is proudly marching ahead on the path of academic excellence.

Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering, Research and Technology is more than 25 years old. It is matter of pleasure coated with sense of satisfaction that it has lived up to the expectation with which it was started in 1983. It was an attempt on the part of the management to make available a centre, first of its kind, of engineering education at Chandrapur. The engineers passing from the college and proving their technical excellence in India and abroad generate sense of pride in all of us.

Right from the inception the management has maintained the supported an approach conductive to generation of academic environment complemented by best possible infrastructure made available to students and faculty members.
The orientation of staff members towards research is an index to successful cultivation of academic environment in the institution. We have always encouraged and appreciated the faculties engaged in research.
Along with the time the challenges to improve, innovate and maintain the standards. I am confident that the dynamic leadership of Principal Dr. K.R. Dixit and his highly qualified team of staff members has the potential to explore ever growing heights of technical skill.
